Dr. Brennan chosen to lead new middle school

Dr. Deborah Brennan, current Associate Principal at Stony Point High School (10-12), has been selected to lead the district's 10th middle school. Cpl. Robert P. Hernandez Middle School is currently operating as the Stony Point 9th Grade Center which will revert to a middle school in August 2010 upon the opening of Cedar Ridge High School.

Dr. Brennan is a confident and passionate educator who values partnerships with parents, students, staff and community members. She believes in the importance of working together as a team to ensure student success. She continually seeks appropriate, timely, research-based professional development for herself and for her staff.

“Dr. Brennan has a strong belief that all students can learn and be successful,” said Superintendent Dr. Jesús H. Chávez. “She is a proven instructional leader who believes in fostering a student-centered school culture and climate. Dr. Brennan has a thorough understanding of curriculum alignment and instructional best practices.”

Prior to her experience at Stony Point High School, Dr. Brennan served as an administrator in Colorado. She has eleven years teaching experience at both the middle and high school level. She has a Doctorate in Special Education as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Brennan also has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. In addition, she has Texas certification in the areas of Principal, Secondary English, Secondary History, Secondary Social Studies Composite, and Gifted and Talented (6-12).
